Muskoka Cottage Market Update

It’s early in 2018 to predict how the muskoka cottage market will perform, but here’s a quick update for cottage properties in Muskoka. This recent turn in the weather could have a short term effect on sales. It won’t be till the end of May before we start to see how the market is developing. Be sure to come back for quarterly updates.

Cottages properties for all of Muskoka

Cottage sales in Muskoka are down 39% YOY with 51 sales in Q1 of 2018 compared to 84 sales for the same period in 2017.

197 cottages listed in Q1 of 2018, compared to 220 in the previous year.

Keep in mind it’s early in 2018 and I believe any current shortfall for 2018 can be attributed to the unusual weather we’re currently experiencing. My sense is that the market for 2018 will be at least as strong as 2017. Mark and I have been attending listing appointments daily for cottages coming to market this spring and summer, so we’re excited for what’s in store for 2018.
