This is Muskoka so this cottage was designed to be custom built atop a granite ridge, the Canadian Shield, an ancient mountain range. Here the normal topography is rocky and forest rimmed lakes that make the most spectacular views overlooking lakes.
This cottage is a modern and rustic farmhouse style. The entrance is framed in 2 very large granite boulders that the front steps and porch are built on. The double 8-foot doors that are custom designed welcome you into this quality custom built 4-season cottage/home.
Walls of windows in the open concept living area make the space seem to float in the surrounding tree canopy. They frame the view down to the water and surrounding trees on one of Muskoka District Lakes. This large (approximately 4200 sq. foot), 4-season cottage is laid out on 3 levels. The main level contains a large open concept living area with an over sized, live-edge maple and pine island/dining-table (10’ x 6’) in the kitchen. There is walk-in pantry, a main floor laundry, and mudroom entrance beside the laundry room. A cozy breakfast nook with 3 sides of tall windows to frame the view. The living room has a gas fireplace and ample room for a couple of sofas and a couple of chairs to lounge in.
The main floor primary bedroom has its entrance enclosed with 2 barn doors (8’ x 8’). It has a unique vanity made of Muskoka granite and antique wood dough bowl for the sink and a water closet. The large windows capture the private view of the pine and aspen forest.
The upper loft above the attached and heated garage is a self-contained 1-bedroom guest suite with kitchen and bathroom with vaulted ceiling. It can also be the teen hang-out. It is connected by the hallway inside the turret that connects garage as well and has front and back door entrances. The main building has 10-foot ceilings on both levels.
Down at the waterfront that faces SOUTH WEST for all day sunshine you will find a gazebo, a cabana with enviro-toilet for your convenience, and a large dock in deep-water for boat mooring.
