This is Muskoka so this cottage was designed to be custom built atop a granite ridge, the Canadian Shield, an ancient mountain range. Here the normal topography is rocky and forest rimmed lakes that make the most spectacular views overlooking lakes.
This cottage is a modern and rustic farmhouse style. The entrance is framed in 2 very large granite boulders that the front steps and porch are built on. The double 8-foot doors that are custom designed welcome you into this quality custom built 4-season cottage/home.
Walls of windows in the open concept living area make the space seem to float in the surrounding tree canopy. They frame the view down to the water and surrounding trees on one of Muskoka District Lakes. This large (approximately 4200 sq. foot), 4-season cottage is laid out on 3 levels. The main level contains a large open concept living area with an over sized, live-edge maple and pine island/dining-table (10’ x 6’) in the kitchen. There is walk-in pantry, a main floor laundry, and mudroom entrance beside the laundry room. A cozy breakfast nook with 3 sides of tall windows to frame the view. The living room has a gas fireplace and ample room for a couple of sofas and a couple of chairs to lounge in.
The double 8-foot doors from the living space opens to a covered deck, with vaulted roof for BBQing in the rain and, for some shade on the south west facing lakeside view. The deck is 2 levels that sits on the granite ridge overlooking the lake. The lower level holds the 10-foot, 10-seater, cast aluminum table for family and friends dining experience. Down a few steps you will find one of 2 fire pits for summer evenings of star gazing and marshmallow roasting.
The main floor master bedroom has its entrance enclosed with 2 barndoors (8’ x 8’). It has a unique vanity made of Muskoka granite and antique wood dough bowl for the sink and a water closet. The large windows capture the private view of the pine and aspen forest.
The upper loft above the attached and heated garage is a self-contained 1-bedroom guest suite with kitchen and bathroom with vaulted ceiling. It can also be the teen hang-out. It is connected by the hallway inside the turret that connects garage as well and has front and back door entrances. The main building has 10-foot ceilings on both levels.
Down a level offers a walkout to the granite ledge and stairs that follow the rock ridge down to the second fire pit; all with spectacular views of the lake. With 10-foot ceilings, 3 bedrooms with bunk beds and loft bunk, queen beds, you will have plenty of space to have family/guests sleep comfortably. There is a 3-piece bathroom with a large tiled, walk-in shower for your guests. A pool table and a game table area for hours of fun. There is a large custom bar area made from 3-inch live-edge pine and concrete for your cocktail mixing pleasure. The lower level has concrete floors that help regulate the temperature, the granite that the cottage is built on will keep it cool in the summer and keep the floor warm in winter.
Down at the waterfront that faces SOUTH WEST for all day sunshine you will find a gazebo, a cabana with enviro-toilet for your convenience, and a large dock in deep-water for boat mooring.
